Kenyetta reached out to me a few weeks ago to book a portfolio session with an interesting concept: bridal. It’s funny because I’m a wedding photographer. Fashion photography is something I do every now and then. I never thought I’d see the day when the two worlds collided.
It was amazing working with this team of young, black women. I was honored to be a part of this shoot. Here is what Kenyetta had to say about the team:
“So the women that were chosen to be apart of my bridal shoot are all young African American women and self-made entrepreneurs. I was really blessed to work with this team of women. They all added something special to my shoot, and I’m very proud of the outcome.”

“Founder & CEO of The Melody Effect and Blaque Broccoli. I worked with her in earlier 2019. I was a model for a collaboration she did with another local CT photographer. I truly admire the work that Melody does, and that she is a self-taught makeup artist. I know many make up artists, but when it came to my bridal shoot she was the only person that came to mind.”
Hair Stylist: Sheba
“Bridgeport hairstylist. She owns her own business called “Sheeba is Shikleohair,” which caters to women who wear natural hairstyles, and she is a loctician. Sheeba and I were connected by Melody. This was our first time working together. ”
Stylist: Shade
“New York image consultant and wardrobe stylist. She has been styling for shoots for the past 8 years. This was my first collaborating with her. I love her work & she is super professional. We were actually connected by a high school friend. She worked with celebrities such as Hezekiah Walker, B Simone, Future, Meek Mills, just to name a few. I hope to work with her again, even when on my celebrity status, lol.”
